A lot of information in one little blog post

December 10, 2010

Who else is feeling the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season? I know I am!! I have so many events I want to attend and traditions I want to make happen! And I have so much I want/need to share with you here on Kitchen Concoctions. Because yesterday was a crazy busy day I missed posting the cookbook of the month recipe and the ‘Show Your Helping Hand Giveaway’ winner.

Speaking of giveaways, some of the fun things I have planned for the remainder of December and the year 2010, are 2 more giveaways (yay!!!), a count down to Christmas (that’s 12 recipes!), some of my holiday traditions (I am big on traditions), and some exciting news (can’t wait to share!), plus lots, lots, more! So stay tuned and check back daily for these exciting things (and hopefully I can stay on top of all this blogging and all the fun Holiday festivities)! : )

Now on to today’s CBOM recipe. WAIT!!!! I almost forgot to announce the winner of the ‘Show Your Helping Hand Giveaway’! See I told you I had to much going on! The winner (randomly generated by Random.org) is:

Min: 1 Max: 9 Result: 2

Comment number 2 is Cheryl F. {The Lucky Ladybug} who is a follower of Kitchen Concoctions! Congrats Cheryl and thanks for being a follower! Please email me at kitchen_concoctions@hotmail.com with your address so I can get this prize pack out to you!

Ok, NOW on to the recipe! LOL! I couldn’t share a BBQ cookbook written by TV’s BBQ king and queen without sharing a BBQ seasoning and BBQ sauce recipe (plus you will need these two recipes for the yummy recipe I am sharing tomorrow).

First the seasoning. This seasoning is a simple BBQ seasoning that would be a great rub on anything from chicken to steak to pork. Next the sauce (and I apologize in advance for no picture for the sauce; of all 15 I took none of them looked good to me). This classic BBQ sauce is sweet and tangy with a hint of spice. Use it to marinate your meats, or add it to a hamburger, either way you’ve got a great BBQ sauce that’s sure to be good with just about anything (well except ice cream of course)!

Notes: I did adjust the measurements on a few of the ingredients and added a few extra to the mix as well!

BBQ Seasoning
Printable Verson

3 tablespoons paprika
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon onion powder

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

BBQ Sauce
Printable Version
Prep Time: 8 minutes Cook Time: 10-15 minutes Yields: 2 cups

1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1 tablespoon BBQ Seasoning
1 Tablespoon molasses

In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently, for 10-15 minutes.

both recipes adapted from Down Home with the Neelys : A Southern Family Cookbook

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting yesterday Heather 🙂 Sorry for not checking in earlier. We enjoyed our Hamburger Helper and I love listening to the Tim McGraw CD. The foam finger's fun too!
