Happy Labor Day friends!! Anyone do anything exciting today? We kept it pretty low key, with a small family BBQ, to drown myself in my sorrow of summer ‘unofficially’ being over.
For many, Labor Day signifies the end of summer but it also means the end of August. And for here on KC the end of one month means the end of another website of the month to get ready for a new one.
For the month of August I featured the recipe website Yummly. Here is what Yummly is all about.
Pictures: Not very many
I would say less than half of the recipes have photos and the quality of photo ranges from professional to amateur home photos.
Prep Time, Cooking Time, and Number of Servings listed: Most
Total time and prep time are listed on most recipes. Yummly also has the ability to adjust the serving size on the recipe to fit your needs, and the ingredients will adjust accordingly.
Nutritional Information provided: Yes
Yes, every recipe contains the nutritional value for common nutritional needs such as fat, sodium, calories, etc.
Clear, easy to follow directions and ease of preparation: Yes and No
Most of the recipes are easy to make with clear directions. However, the recipes found on Yummly come from a variety of resources and other food websites. Sometimes the directions are found with the recipe on the Yummly website while other times you have to click on a link and visit another website for the directions. Also with the recipes coming from a variety of sources, the written directions are not consistent.
Easily available ingredients and budget friendly: Yes
I’d say all most all of the ingredients are very easy to find and budget friendly.
Variety of recipes: All types of recipes!
This site is huge and has tons of recipes.
Like tons! Great resource if you are looking for any type of recipe!
Meal Planning Feature: No
Source of recipes: From a variety of other reputable recipe websites, including Epicurious, All Recipes, Serious Eats, and The Pioneer Woman, to name a few.
Cost: Free
Special feature: This site has so much to offer! One of the things I like most about Yummly is that it has the ability to search for recipes and narrow down the search result by allergies like, gluten free, lactose free, egg free, etc. You can also narrow down by diet, vegan or vegetarian, and even as specific as a certain number of calories or grams of per serving. You can even look for recipes by course or cuisine.
In case you missed is, this is what I made:
