I love the smell of coffee.
Like… love is an understatement.
If I could have a coffee scented candle burning all.day.long I would be a happy girl.
And if I could live in a coffee shop… well that would be heaven!
My love for the smell of coffee started when I was a young girl. My Grandmother drinks coffee like most people drink water, and so her house always smelled like coffee.
That warm and rich aroma would fill her old, historic home. It would draw all of us grand kids (and her adult children as well) to the that small kitchen, hoping for some hot grits and bacon in the morning or some southern pecan pie in the afternoon.
In fact, there was a ‘secret’ room off to the side of that little kitchen that us kids always played in.
It was a happy place and made for treasured memories.
No wonder, being a coffee drinker was in my destiny!
Then in high school, I tried coffee for the first time… as a sweet frozen drink topped with whipped cream and covered in chocolate syrup. This drink was a bit of a staple when hanging out with friends (thinking that we were cool and all) at a local coffee shop on Friday nights.
It wasn’t until years later, that I actually bought a coffeemaker to make coffee in the comfort of my own home, with just a splash of flavored creamer.
I have brewed a lot of coffee, since my first coffeemaker (still not as much as my Grandmother)! All sorts of flavors and blends of coffee in all sorts of coffeemakers.
I have learned the features I like in a coffeemaker, the type of coffee I like, and when I like my coffee (first thing in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon).
Recently I decided that we needed a new coffeemaker and so I headed to my local Walmart, which had so many options! I knew I wanted a coffeemaker that didn’t have a glass coffee pot, because well dropping a glass coffee pot makes a big mess when it breaks.. I know. I also wanted a coffeemaker with where adding the water to the coffeemaker was easy. The Mr. Coffee® Coffeemakers 10-cup Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker not only does it have a stainless steel carafe and a side mounted removable water basket, it brews 10 cups of coffee in less than seven minutes and has a Pause n’ Serve feature, which allows you to instantly have a cup of coffee without the wait!
I then had to grab some fresh and flavorful coffee. Until recently, I used to not care for hazelnut flavored coffee. But it is Eric’s favorite and I decided to pick up some Millstone® Hazelnut Cream Premium coffee. This premium coffee, which comes in a variety of flavors, uses globally sourced 100% Arabica Beans; that yields super-premium coffee yet at an affordable price.
As a tribute to my coffee journey, from soaking in the bold smell of coffee brewing in my Grandmother’s house, to those ‘wild and crazy’ nights as a teenager, to sitting on the porch with Eric drinking his favorite flavored coffee freshly brewed; I created a Chocolate Hazelnut Frappe as the first official recipe made using my new coffeemaker!
You can see step by step photos on Instagram on how to make this frosty treat, but here is the official recipe! Plus check out how you can win a Mr. Coffee® 10cup Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker and Millstone® coffee (using the Rafflecopter) below!
