This No Sew Coffee Cup Sleeve is a quick 15 minute craft that can be easily customized.. a perfect homemade gift for the coffee lover in your life!

Christmas is just days away and I am sure most of you are over all the hustle and bustle and ready to just sit back and enjoy some peaceful moments with friends and loved ones. Personally, I couldn’t be more ready. Ready to put all the errands, chores, and general daily grind on hold for a few short, yet blissful days.

And even though right after the holidays are over, life gets back to normal, I hope that I can still make time just for me. In fact, that is one of my new year’s ‘goals’ –- to make more time just for myself… something that I feel like my life is missing and in much need of right now.

While for some, spending 30 minutes reading a good book, soaking in a hot bubble bath, getting their nails done, or simply enjoying their favorite TV show distraction free, comes naturally, this is something I struggle with on a daily basis. This is because I am one of those people that is constantly going and has an annoyingly strong work ethic. If I sit down to watch TV, I am also working, or folding laundry, or sorting bills. And normally when running errands, I have so much to do that stopping for a pedicure or a cup of coffee doesn’t even cross my mind.

But in 2015, that is going to change, even if I have to write “me time” on my daily to do list or schedule it on my weekly calendar!

In 2015 I am actually going to read a few books, do more crafts, and treat myself to regular pedicures, massages and hair appointments; as all these things make me happy and feel more relaxed.

As I dive face first into this new me journey, I have to remember that taking a little time for myself doesn’t have to cost a lot or irrupt a busy day. In fact, two of my favorite parts of the day include enjoying my morning cup of coffee and my evening sunset walk. In 2015, I am challenging myself not to rush to the computer first thing in the morning, but to grab my cup of coffee and head to my front porch and simply just sit and mentally prepare for the day!

To encourage several of my girlfriends/family members to do the same, I decided to whip up these super easy and adorable homemade coffee cup sleeves. I didn’t want to just give my friends adorable custom coffee cups, but I also wanted them to be able to enjoy a cup or two on me! So I stuffed the coffee mugs with several of the new McCafé coffee pods to get them going on their daily “me time” routine! These premium coffee pods were the perfect addition to my easy homemade gift as they are made from 100% Arabica beans, come in a variety of flavors, as well as traditional bagged coffee, and are conveniently available at Walmart stores.

While these cozies/sleeves are super easy to make and are perfect last minute holiday gifts, I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee while doing something I love~ crafting!

I whipped up six of these coffee cups in about an hour to take as gifts to a family holiday party tomorrow. And while I chose a holiday theme for these, you can change the color combinations or decorations to match whatever theme or personality that best fits you or your gift recipient.

I have included step by step directions below and I challenge you all to stop and make time just for yourself this holiday season and beyond!

Project Time: 15 minutes Cost: $15 (for 4 coffee cups plus coffee)

Custom no sew coffee cup sleeves made from socks and felt décor.

Supplies:
Ruler
1 pair of socks, in desired colors/patterns
4 reusable plastic travel coffee cups, in desired color
Hot glue and hot glue gun
Felt stickers/decorations, buttons, pom poms, ribbon, etc.; in desired shapes/colors
12 McCafé coffee pods
Decorative paper shreds

Instructions:

1. Gather all your supplies and preheat glue gun.
2. Using a ruler, measure and cut off the top three inches of both socks. Next use the ruler to cut an even three inch long rectangle from the bottom section of the sock or the remaining top part of sock, if using knee high socks.
3. Place sock sleeve on reusable plastic travel coffee cup.
4. Using hot glue gun, coat the back of the felt stickers or custom cut outs.
5. Quickly adhere the glue covered felt sticker to the sock sleeve on coffee cup.
6. Add additional decorations, if desired, and repeat with remaining coffee cup sleeves.
7. For gifting, place a few pieces of decorative paper shreds at the bottom of the coffee cup. Top with one coffee pod and additional paper shreds.
8. Repeat; filling the entire cup (three coffee pods with paper shreds should fit in one standard sized travel mug).
9. Place a gift bow on cup or stick in paper gift bag for giving!

Note: Use old wool sweaters, cutting up the sleeves, instead of socks for a different look.

We sound very similar – I cannot just sit down in front of the TV and relax. There is always laundry to fold or something else to be done, and I'm always multitasking. My husband made me promise to start 2015 off with "me time" everyday. I like the idea of scheduling a little time each day for me, even if it is grabbing a cup of coffee and not scanning emails at the same time! Thanks for sharing your great DIY gift with McCafé – I may make these as a New Years gift for my son's teacher! #client
