Grilled Black Pepper New York Strip with Blue Cheese Sauce

February 12, 2016

Nothing says the weekend like firing up the grill and throwing on some big juicy steaks! Today I’ve teamed up with Stubb’s Sauces and Marinades to bring you a simple steak recipe that rivals fancy steakhouse dinners!

Spring time here is Texas is simply glorious! Depending on the year it could start in February and last until early May, when the summer heat wave begins to creep in. Fortunately for us, this winter has been exceptionally mild, which has given us the opportunity to enjoy a ton of time outdoors.

The past two weeks in particular, have been picture perfect! I have spent more time outside working out. I have then hauled all my work stuff outside for morning and afternoon power work sessions and on a whim planned an impromptu camping trip. This spring time weather definitely does a soul good and I am gratefully soaking up every second of it!

One thing that I absolutely love is firing up the grill and just spending the afternoon or evening hanging out on our back porch. Our porch is nothing fancy, yet we have certainly made it an extension of our home, which I LOVE!

Usually, when we grill out we invite friends or family over and keep things simple with burgers, hot dogs or sausage, or fajita meat and veggies. But sometimes, I like to grill out just for us and make an extra special meal like grilled steaks or lamb chops.

Today’s recipe seems so fancy and yet is super easy with the help of a new favorite marinade, Stubb’s Sweet Black Pepper Anytime Sauce. This peppery sauce is absolutely perfect for hearty steaks and if you are looking to impress your significant other for Valentine’s Day this weekend, making this Grilled Black Pepper New York Strip with Blue Cheese Sauce for them is the way to go.

Grilled Black Pepper New York Strip with Blue Cheese Sauce

Seasoned steaks, grilled to perfection and topped with tangy blue cheese sauce.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Additional Time 30 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 New York Strip steaks
  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle Stubb’s Sweet Black Pepper Anytime Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon each salt and black pepper, or to taste
  • ¼ cup half and half or whole milk
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup quality blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Place steaks in a large baking dish or zipper topped plastic bag. Pour Stubb’s Sweet Black Pepper Anytime Sauce over steaks. Allow steaks to marinate in sauce for 30 minutes at room temperature, or for one to two hours in the refrigerator.
  2. After marinating, preheat an outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to medium-high heat and oil the grill grates to prevent the meat from sticking. Remove steak from marinade and discard leftover marinade. Season steaks with ½ teaspoon salt and black pepper. Grill steaks for 3-4 minutes per side, cooking until a thermometer registers 140°F for medium rare.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small sauce pan, stir together half and half, sour cream, ¼ cup blue cheese crumbles, garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Heat sauce to a simmer over low heat. Season blue cheese sauce, as needed, with remaining salt and black pepper.
  4. Serve grilled steaks topped with warm blue cheese sauce and remaining blue cheese crumbles.
