My morning journal writing helps fuel my inner strength and prepare me for the day. Today, I am sharing some journal writing prompts and ideas and how these 30 minutes every morning help nourish my soul!
For me 2016 has been all about getting stronger… stronger physically, striving to have stronger relationships with the people in my life, be a stronger, more organized blogger, be a stronger leader in my community, and more!
Needless to say 2016 has been busy as I trained to run my first 5k, took on a volunteer leadership role for a local organization, reconnected with old friends and long lost family members, built my own business and made weekly date night a top priority! Since we only have a few more months of 2016 left, September is a great time for us all to re-evaluate how things are going with our 2016 goals; making adjustments and forging on to conquer it all.
One thing that helped me stay on track and accomplish so many goals this year, was to take 30 minutes each morning, as I eat breakfast and have my morning coffee, to plan my day and to write freely in my journal. These few moments have helped me stay organized and have given me the mental strength to forge ahead with the day. I know with fall quickly approaching and it being a super busy time of year, this favorite time of day is going to be even more critical.
Not only is my daily journal writing a way for me to express myself creatively, by doodling and free writing; it gives me time to meditate, clear my head and plan my day. Sometimes I “bullet journal” where I make lots of lists, a daily to do list, blog post topic lists, grocery lists, etc. While other times I write cheesy poems and silly doodles, which helps me de-stress. Other times I need more serious mediation and write down my favorite inspiring quotes, some personal aspirations or remind myself of my best qualities.
When I got serious about journaling at the beginning of the year, I quickly acquired a ton of journaling supplies like markers, washi tape, colored pencils, stickers, etc. Not only do I use these craft supplies to decorate my journal, I use them to organize my planner too. So keeping them in one place and something I can take with me easily from my office to my breakfast table, to the couch or a local park was necessary.
That’s when I had an idea for a journaling box. Not only could I put all my journal supplies in there, but I could put my journal and some journal writing prompts as well. Below is a pic of my storage box (you could use a plastic box, a photo box, etc.) filled with all my journal tools including my journal writing prompt download.
While I wanted the journaling box to be easily portable, I mostly spend my time writing in my journal at our breakfast table in the mornings while I sip on a cup of coffee and eat my go to breakfast- fruit and yogurt parfaits with Kellogg’s® Special K® Granola or a bowl of cereal, usually some variety of Kellogg’s® Special K® Cereal, both of which I stock up on at my local Kroger.
No matter what you are looking to accomplish in the last few months of 2016, I hope that you fuel your inner strength with a few movements of “me time” while enjoying your breakfast each morning!

I love this so much! I really need to get back to journaling. I used to do it a long time ago and have stopped and I also love drawing so I like how you incorporate both the art and drawing. Thank you for sharing and for the printable. {client|
