Y’all!!! It is the most wonderful time of year and I couldn’t be more excited!! If you have been a fan of Kitchen Concoctions for any amount of time you know that my love of the holidays, whether it be Valentine’s Day, Halloween or Thanksgiving, runs deep; but my love for Christmas is its own kind of, well let’s just say, special enthusiasm! LOL!

My Mom always made this time of year super magical by decorating the “halls” to the nine and having special traditions like making buckets and buckets of decorated sugar cookies, decorating the Christmas Tree, getting us matching pjs and letting us gather around the fireplace and read boatloads of holiday themed books, even if it meant cranking down the AC to have a fire during a typical Texas December heatwave!

Then when I met my husband, we took some of our favorite traditions from both of our families and started our own to make this time of year unique and memorable for us.

In addition to all the fun activities and traditions, our favorite part about the holiday season is being able to get together with all our friends and family for special holiday parties and gatherings. Both of our families have their own one of a kind holiday parties, and it is a delight and honor to have the opportunity to attend them every year, as these get togethers have been happening for generations! My husband and I also started hosting our own holiday party, with our friends many years ago; and the holiday season wouldn’t be the same without it!

Because of all the holiday parties we attend, I am always looking for new dessert and appetizer recipes to make and bonus points if they are uber festive, yet still taste delicious. That’s how this recipe for Christmas Tree Veggie Pizza was born. It is a holiday version of that “old school” cold veggie pizza; you know the one from the 80’s and 90’s made using crescent rolls, cream cheese and assorted raw vegetables.

In addition to making the classic crescent roll veggie pizza more festive by making it into a Christmas Tree, I added a little kick of flavor by mixing RO*TEL® Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies into the cream cheese mixture. I always have RO*TEL® Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies stocked in my pantry since it is a staple ingredient in so many of our favorite recipes, like my homemade salsa, Chicken Tortilla Soup and Slow Cooker Jalapeno Popper White Bean Chicken Chili; and it made a wonderful addition to this other favorite recipe!

This Christmas Tree Veggie Pizza has become one of our go to appetizer recipes for our white elephant party, and I CANNOT wait to make it this weekend when we officially kick off the month of December by hosting this year’s party!

Since things are a little hectic this time of year, I’m taking advantage of Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup to not only help me get ready for our upcoming party, but to help me all season long! In fact, I’ve used Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup quite a bit the past few months and it is a huge time saver and makes grocery shopping a breeze. I simply create my order online, schedule a pick-up time and then go to the special pick up area in the Walmart parking lot and they bring your groceries right to you! It’s convenient services like this and easy recipes like this Christmas Tree Veggie Pizza that make holiday entertaining a breeze!
