Can you believe Christmas is Wednesday!?!? This holiday season has been so fun and magical, but has gone by WAY to fast. Am I right?
We have a few more errands to run and a few more gatherings to attend, and then I’m signing off for a few days to just relax, soak in the last moments of the season and reflect on the past year as I plan for the year ahead.
One last item on our “to do” list is to decide what to leave out for Santa. Growing up my family always made a ton of cut out sugar cookies that we decorated in about 10 pounds of buttercream frosting and 25 pounds of tiny colorful sprinkles. I loved making and decorating Christmas sugar cookies with my family and love being able to continue that tradition today.
My husband on the other hand, has fond memories of leaving out Oreo cookies and milk for Santa.
Even though homemade sugar cookies and Oreo cookies are completely different, I’m sure Santa loves them both and will enjoy any treat and beverage left out for him! (So, don’t stress about it!!)
Easy Ornament Cookies
Today’s “recipe” is a perfect mashup of both my husband’s and I’s Christmas memories! These decorated Oreo Christmas cookies are the perfect last-minute treat for a holiday party or to leave out for Santa.
In fact, if you have been following for a while, you may recognize these Easy Ornament Cookies when I shared my Ornament Exchange Party several years ago. Since I was making so much food for the party (as usual), I wanted a cute and festive cookie without a lot of work, and these Easy Ornament Cookies were the perfect addition to my party table.
Oreo Christmas Cookies
Not only that, I have always loved chocolate covered Oreos and over the years I’ve shared a ton of fun ways to not only decorate Oreo cookies, but Nutter Butter cookies as well. Everything from Easter Chick Nutter Butter Cookies to Pumpkin Oreos; so it was about time I shared a cute Christmas Oreo cookie.
And while I love all the cute decorated cookies I’ve shared over the years, these Easy Ornament Cookies may be my favorite because they really are SUPER easy! Like embarrassingly easy, as I take a major short cut and use store bought chocolate covered Oreos that always show up at the store this time of year.
Yes, my friends, this Easy Ornament Cookie recipe is the perfect decorated Christmas cookie recipe if you feel intimidated by making cut out sugar cookies or are simply at that point in the holiday season that you have no more energy and yet want to keep enjoying all the season’s festivities!

Helpful Tips and Information:
How to make chocolate covered Oreos:
Since this time of year is SO busy, I wanted to keep my Easy Ornament Cookie recipe as easy as possible so I used store bought White Fudge Covered Oreos. But, if you can’t find those, you can make your own White Chocolate Covered Oreos using regular Oreo cookies and white chocolate and my directions below.
Place white chocolate or white chocolate candy bark in microwave safe bowl. Add ½-1 teaspoon coconut oil for every 6-9 ounces of white chocolate candy bark. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir. Return to microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Stir again and repeat heating and stirring process until white chocolate is smooth and melted.
Using a fork, working with one cookie at a time, dip the entire Oreo cookie in melted candy melts. Allow excess chocolate to drip off. Place dipped cookies on a silicone baking mat or wax paper lined baking sheet.
Set cookies aside to harden completely before decorating as described in the recipe below. To speed up hardening process, dipped cookies can be place in refrigerator.
Store cookies in an air tight container.
