Shipping cookies this holiday season?? This is how we do it! This method is certainly not going to win any awards for prettiest cookie box. BUT! We guarantee your cookies will arrive fresh and unbroken! This also works really well for freezing baked cookies and will ensure they stay fresh and not get that weird freezer taste. Note: This method for storing/shipping cookies works best for drop cookies, like our Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies shown in the video (comment “recipe” to have it sent right to you). How to ship cookies: 1. Make a bag using your food saver.
2. Take two cookies (that have cooled completely) and put the flat sides of the cookies together. Fill bag with 12 cookies that are in a double layer.
3. Vacuum seal the bag following manufacturer directions.
4. Place vacuum sealed cookies in a cookie tin or plastic food storage container.
5. Place cookie tin in a shipping box or padded envelope.
6. Ship! Not sponsored, but we recently started using Pirate Ship to save a little money on the cost of shipping. So easy to print a label at home and drop off at a shipping store. Comment “link” and we will DM you the affiliate link to our favorite food saver. We will also link to it in our stories! https://amzn.to/3NqzLS6 #kitchenconcoctions #bakingtips #bakinghacks #holidaybaking #christmascookies #cookingtips #cookinghacks #foodstorage #chocolatechipcookie #cookietin

Happy Giving Tuesday! 💗 If you are feeling inspired to give back to this holiday season, these food forward organizations are doing great things in our communities! @feedingamerica
@ctxfoodbank
@bakeawishatx
@wckitchen
@gzlfoundation
@teenkitchen
@urbanrootsatx From cash and in-kind donations to volunteering your time and talents, there are so many ways to help! What organizations would you add to this list? Tag them in the comments so that we can show them some love this holiday season! *While not a food based organization, your local @ronaldmcdonaldhouse is in need of donations for ingredients and prepared snacks for the families they are housing and often have “wish lists” of needed items. You can also volunteer to prepare meals and baked goods in their kitchens to help feed families. —-

Today’s Thanksgiving Tip -> Take time to inventory your baking dishes, serving platters, plates and silverware. A week or two before your holiday dinner, set out all your serving platters and utensils. On a sticky note write down what each platter will be used for and place the note on the dish. This helps to see what additional dishes you may need to pick up beforehand and will help you stay organized. Just don’t forget to remove the sticky notes before cooking your favorite recipes. 😉 Also, don’t forget to gather and set aside containers for leftovers. This will help ease in clean up, when you are the most exhausted, and ensure you have enough containers (with lids 😆) to store everything. Stay tuned for more Thanksgiving recipes, tips and tricks over the next few weeks. Wondering how big of a turkey to buy for Thanksgiving? Here’s our Thanksgiving Tip - we recommend calculating approximately 1.25 pounds per person. Remember, guests will not actually eat that much turkey as there is a lot of turkey, like bones, that is inedible. Since most people tend to fill up on side dishes, we feel like this will give you plenty of turkey for Thanksgiving dinner and some leftovers. Don’t want leftovers, opt for 1 pound per person. Or, want a lot of leftovers, go up to 1.5 pounds per person. Another tip! We recommend not cooking larger than an 18 pound turkey, as the larger the bird, the longer the cooking time and the potential of uneven cooking and a dry, tough bird. So, if you are hosting a larger crowd, consider cooking more than one turkey (maybe one smoked and one roasted) or serving an additional protein like ham. Or you could even add more side dishes to the menu! Got questions about cooking Thanksgiving dinner? Drop them below as we are happy to help! Stay tuned for more Thanksgiving recipes, tips and tricks over the next few weeks. Happy November! Active Thanksgiving beast mode. 😉 I’m still finalizing our Thanksgiving menu, but that isn’t keeping me from getting ready. I’m already starting to clean out and organize my freezer, pantry and fridge. While I do this, I’ll take inventory of pantry staples, specifically things we use a lot all holiday season long. Then each week until Thanksgiving, I’ll be adding a few Thanksgiving dinner essentials to my weekly grocery run. This helps ensure I’m not having to buy everything all at once and I can get things at the best price when they are on sale. These groceries are things I know I will need no matter what my final dinner menu will be. Think pecans, butter, chicken stock, flour, sugar, spices, chocolate chips, baking powder, paper goods, etc. Stay tuned for more Thanksgiving recipes, tips and tricks over the next few weeks.
