Successful and Tasty

December 13, 2010

What a great week of cookbook recipes! I hope you all enjoyed these southern classics as much as I did and enjoyed exploring November’s cookbook of the month, Down Home with the Neelys : A Southern Family Cookbook (and yes I know we are half way through December… But you can read all about this delayed CBOM here).

This is a fun cookbook with great recipes! Everything I made turned out very successful and tasty!

I love how this cook book has fun stories about each recipe told my the Neelys. There are tons of pictures, but about half of them are personal photos of the Neelys themselves and their family. And while the cook and prep times were not clearly listed the number of servings were.
I only touched on a few recipes from this book. There are so many more entrée recipes as well as appetizers and desserts that are on my list of recipes I need to try!
These Brown Sugar Glazed Sweet Potatoes with Coconut Streusel was simply wonderful. It has already been requested to grace our Christmas dinner table!

Creamed Corn. You can never go wrong with it’s creamy, silky goodness.
No doubt you will impress just about anyone with this Get Yo’ Man Chicken! This chicken is very similar in flavor to chicken parmesan but without all that time and mess of breading.
Every great BBQ joint must have a great sauce and rub, and the Neelys graciously share the secret to their BBQ success in this cookbook. And thanks to a reader’s suggestion this BBQ rub would be great wrapped up and packaged to give to friends for the holidays.
And while this BBQ Meatloaf is nothing like my Mom’s classic, this unique version incredibly tasty!
