It’s Time For Easter!

April 3, 2012

How on earth did another holiday sneak up on me!!! Really I cannot explain how this happened. I seriously had like a bazillion recipes and fun things planned to help you prepare for Easter.

But that is the story of my life.

Plans. Good intentions. And sometimes success. And sometimes fail.

Last year for Easter I did a week of ‘egg’cellent recipes, 5 recipes centered around Easter eggs. Easter eggs. I had wanted to do a repeat of that this year but also have a week of general Easter recipes. The general Easter recipes happened the ‘egg’cellent recipes did not!

So here you have it. One week. Five days. Five Easter recipes (and maybe a craft). Priceless.

One Year Ago: Tossed Salad with Carrot Dressing
Two Years Ago: Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf with Tomato Gravy
Three Years Ago: Butterscotch Sweet Potato Cookie Sandwiches

Ham Steak with Classic Cherry Glaze

Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 8 minutes Serves 4

1 (2-3 pound) thick cut ham steak
1 (12 ounce size) jar cherry preserves
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon all spice
1/4 teaspoon salt and black pepper
Preheat grill.

In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients except ham. Simmer for five minutes.

Place ham steaks on grill over medium heat. Grill 3 minutes. Turn ham steak; brush with half of cherry mixture and continue to grill 3 minutes. Turn again; brush with remaining half of cherry mixture and continue to grill 1 to 2 minutes or until ham is glazed and heated through.

Serve with remaining cherry sauce.

That is cool! Thanks for letting me know. Was it in the Austin American Statesman?
