Giving Thanks for Giving

October 25, 2013

I absolutely love this time of year! All the fun activities and the extra special time with friends and family. I also love that we all take a little extra time to stop and be grateful for the people in our lives. I know I am so grateful and truly thankful for so many people in my life. I am fortunate to have a great circle of friends and family that have been by my side, through thick and thin for a long time. They show great love, support and positive encouragement. I am also so grateful for all of YOU, my blog readers! Running a blog is a lot of work and sometimes can get a little frustrating (all that HTML mumbo jumbo…). But then I get a wonderful comment, I gain a new friendship, I am blessed with a wonderful opportunity.. And I am grateful. I am grateful and truly thankful for this little blog and all of you, that are a thriving force behind this blog too (even if you didn’t know it!), and continue to help give me the opportunity to keep this blog going!

I have always been a big believer in letting people that they mean a lot to you, and that you should tell them often. That is why this holiday season, I am partnering again with Cooking Planit to celebrate the Givers in our lives and communities. Do you know someone who gives to others without looking for recognition or reward? Tell us their story, in a short, inspiring story, and 5 stories will be selected for a $250 reward. And the grand prize winner will win $1,000 for the charity of their choice. 5 Winners will be chosen from all the entries based on how inspiring their story is and how they empower others through their efforts.

In 300 words or less:

Recognize an individual who is making the difference in the lives of others in your community.

Share how they donating their time, energy or love with a focus on helping others without necessarily thinking of themselves.

Give details on how they are working to improve lives of others.

If your inspiring person is chosen, they will receive a $250 gift card to help them celebrate Thanksgiving. And you will win $100, as our way of saying Thank You.

So warm up your pens, and warm up the hearts of all of us this Thanksgiving.

You may enter on Facebook or on the Cooking Planit Giving Thanks page.

See the entry page for all the contest details and rules.

Tell us about your most inspiring local leader who demonstrates selfless giving this holiday season.

Let’s celebrate this holiday season and truly give thanks for all those great people in our lives!

Hi Y'all, welcome to Kitchen Concoctions!

I'm Heather and I have spent most of my life concocting recipes inspired by the rich southern flavors and traditions I grew up with.

Today, I'm on a mission to help people gain confidence in the kitchen and inspire others to cook, craft and create life long memories with friends and family.
