Helpful Tips and Information:
Washing out the hair mask:
Use cool or lukewarm water- Per the recipe directions, use cool water to rinse out the hair mask and then lukewarm water to shampoo your hair. Since this hair mask has raw egg, DO NOT use hot water to rinse and wash your hair because it could potentially cause the egg to scramble in your hair.
Shampooing your hair- You may need to wash your twice to remove all of the hair mask.
Combing wet hair- I highly recommend using a Wet Brush Paddle Detangler Hair Brush or a wide tooth comb to brush/combo out your hair after washing.
Ingredients in a homemade Avocado Banana Hair Mask:

- Bananas – repair damage and soothe hair.

I have sisterlocks and would like to apply this to my hair, will it work the same?
Heather of Kitchen Concoctions says
Hi Anonymous! I do not have sisterlocks and so I am not 100% sure how it would work for your hair. With that said I have read up on some information and found that a lot of all natural sisterlock hair products/recipes contain the similar ingredients as this recipe does.

I would find it very difficult not to eat the ingredients for this mask 🙂
Lulu says
Hey, so i was wondering if you have to use the mask as soon as you make it, or if once made, how long it would last before it went bad? Thank you, and great idea !
Heather of Kitchen Concoctions says
Hi Lulu! I have always used this hair mask immediately after making it. But if you did want to make it ahead of time, I would suggest to only make it a few hours before using it and to cover it with plastic wrap, pressing the plastic wrap directly onto the mixture and refrigerate until ready to use. Note that the avocado might change color as it sits.

Hi, i was wondering how often should i do this hair mask?
Keri says
How often should I use this on my hair? Every week, once a month???
Heather says
Hi Keri! I recommend doing the mask a few times a month to help condition and nourish your hair. Depending on your hair type/length or lifestyle (ie: in the winter when hair can be more dry or if you tend to use styling tools frequently… which causes major damage to hair), you may need to do it more often.
Susan says
I have an 8 year old daughter and her hair is very curly but dry and she has dandruff because of dry scalp. Would this work for her?
Heather says
Hi Susan! I have wavy hair and in the winter months I tend to have dry hair/scalp. I have used this hair mask in conjunction with a tea tree oil or zinc dandruff shampoo with great results. Because of this, I can’t confirm that this hair mask on it’s own will treat the dandruff, but what research I have done, many of the ingredients in this hair mask, like olive oil and apple cider vinegar, have been recommended as natural dandruff remedies. If you have further questions or concerns, you might want to talk to your doctor.
