Planning on traveling to Utah for a summer vacation? Schedule a ride on the Heber Valley Railroad, in Heber City, Utah, for a day of family fun!
Holy cow! Summer is flying by! Hope you are enjoying all the fun things summer has to offer, and hopefully you have the chance to take a summer vacation (or two) to unwind and relax. Since I’m in vacation planning mode myself (ours isn’t until August though), I thought that over the next few weeks I would share some more travel blog posts. So today I’m dishin’ up about the Heber Valley Railroad, located in Heber City, Utah; that I have visited numerous times, most recently on my trip to Utah last summer.
I’ve mentioned several times before that I have been vacationing to the Rocky Mountain states since I was a little girl. To this day Colorado, Montana, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming are some of my favorite places to travel because I love hiking, skiing, white water rafting, camping and all those other outdoorsy activities.
Because many of these activities are hard to do with kids, when traveling with or visiting friends and family members with kids that live in these states, I have also gotten pretty familiar with various family friendly and kid friendly attractions and things to do.
One favorite activity and place we have been visiting for years is the Heber Valley Railroad, located in Heber City, Utah. Heber Valley/Heber City, Utah is a quaint little mountain town located just up the mountain from Park City, Utah and is approximately 45 minutes outside of Salt Lake City.
Heber Valley/Heber City has all kinds of things to do from shopping and dining in the historic downtown Heber City to various water sports activities on the Deer Creek Reservoir. But the activity we love the most is riding the Heber Valley Railroad!
The Heber Valley Railroad is a historic railroad (read the official history of the railroad here). They offer 2+ hour train rides in Heber Valley, along the shores of Deer Creek Reservoir and the banks of the Provo River. In addition to seeing beautiful Utah scenery, the train ride includes live music and fun, interactive entertainment, like being hijacked by Black Jack Raven and the Soldier Hollow Gang! ?
In addition to almost daily rides during the summer, throughout the year they have special themed rides like, Murder Mystery Dinners, rides centered around various cartoon characters and the North Pole Express at Christmas.
Since there are so many different themed rides, taking a trip on the Heber Valley Railroad can be a fun experience for the whole family, especially train loving children (like my nephews)! However, if your children are real little (like 2-5) you may want to choose the shorter 2-hour ride or go on one of the themed rides that has more things to do.
The Heber Valley Railroad is a beautiful and unique travel destination that is great fun for kids of all ages! For more information about Heber Valley Railroad and to plan your trip, see below:
