If you have been reading Kitchen Concoctions for any amount of time then you know we are all about festive food and fun when it comes to celebrating holidays. Not only do we love to decorate and make festive holiday recipes, but we love to entertain.
One of our favorite ways to serve food at a celebration, whether it be a small and intimate family only celebration or a larger gathering with extended family or friends, is some sort of snack board.
Snack boards, or if you’re fancy, charcuterie boards, are great for celebrations because they are easy to customize to your gathering and usually, since there is a variety of food offered, there is something for everyone.
Not only are snack boards an easy way to entertain, they are a fantastic dinner idea for a hot summer day when you don’t feel like cooking or feel like eating a big heavy meal.
Over the years I have shared a few different types of snack boards, including this Holiday Antipasto Platter, and today I am so excited to bring you this 4th of July Snack Board!

Tips for creating the perfect 4th of July Charcuterie Board:
Choose the right board – While you can purchase official cheese boards or appetizer platters to use for your 4th of July Charcuterie Board, you probably already have something at home you can use.
A large cutting board, baking sheet or even a large drink tray or serving dish (ie: what you would use to serve your Thanksgiving turkey) will all work great for a cheese board or appetizer platter.
Don’t forget the utensils – The great thing about a charcuterie board, is that all the foods are finger foods and can be grabbed without a plate or napkin, if needed. But I still recommend setting out small appetizer plates and napkins, like these festive red, white and blue paper plates and napkins.
Don’t forget to include small tongs, spoons and cheese knives (or a fancy butter knife will work in a pinch) so that guests can easily get what they want off the platter. I recommend getting a cheese knife set if you plan on serving several varieties of cheeses that need to be cut on the serving board.
Also, I recommend items that are wet, come in a brine, or are small (like the M&M’S®) be placed in small bowls. To keep with the patriotic theme, choose bowls in red, white and blue colors, like these white ramekins, these blue decorative serving bowls or even these fun mini-Dutch ovens. You can also often find star shaped bowls this time of year that would be a fun and festive touch to this 4th of July Charcuterie Board.
Assemble last minute – I recommend waiting until about 30 minutes before you want to serve your snack board to assemble. You want to give soft cheeses enough time to soften to spreadable consistency at room temperature, but you don’t want food to be sitting out for too long.
NOTE: Any meat, cheese, dips, etc. that have been sitting at room temperature for 4 hours or more should be discarded.
