Schlotzsky’s Brisket Sandwiches and a $25 Schlotzsky’s Gift Card Giveaway!

March 22, 2017

Today I’m partnering with Schlotzsky’s to celebrate their Austin, Texas roots with a new line of brisket sandwiches! Check out all the tasty Schlotzsky’s Brisket Sandwiches below, plus enter to win a $25 Schlotzsky’s gift card to try these new menu items for yourself!

Schlotzsky's Brisket Sandwiches
The Tex-Mex Brisket Sandwich

If you all have been reading Kitchen Concoctions for any amount of time then you know I am passionate about several things, with good food and my love of Texas at the top of the list. I mean, after all, I’ve called Texas my home for almost my entire life and have been very fortunate to make a living in the food and beverage industry.

Because of my love and passion for my home state, I get very excited for all things Texas, from the rodeo, to Tex-Mex and BBQ, to my favorite flower, Texas bluebonnets. I also like supporting Texas brands and companies, Texas musicians, sports teams and other Texas bloggers.

That’s why I was excited to hear that Schlotzsky’s was celebrating their Austin, Texas roots (yeah, did you know that Schlotzsky’s opened its very first sandwich shop in 1971 off South Congress?!?!), with a new line of BBQ brisket sandwiches. And even more exciting was the fact that they chose SXSW, an internationally known Austin film, technology and music conference, to premiere these Texas inspired sandwiches, with a fun, free and delicious Schlotzsky’s SXSW Brisket Launch Party at Trinity Hall in Austin, Texas!

Not only was Schlotzsky’s serving up all three of their new brisket sandwiches to party goers, they had other eats (Schlotzsky’s chips and cookies) and drinks (cocktails made using Austin’s own Tito’s vodka) as well as entertainment by comedians Bryon Bowers, Brandon Wardell and Hannibal Buress, plus music by DJ Allie Teilz. Check out the hashtag #SXSchlotzskys to see behind the scene’s photos shared on social media (from myself and other local bloggers) live from the party.

The Traditional Brisket Sandwich

Since I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the event, I got try the new brisket sandwiches:
• Traditional Brisket Sandwich – Hickory-smoked brisket, BBQ sauce, cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, dill slices, red onions and signature sauce on sourdough.
• Cuban Brisket Sandwich – Hickory-smoked brisket, ham, BBQ sauce, Swiss, Dijon mustard, dill slices and signature sauce on a jalapeño cheese bun.
• Tex-Mex Brisket Sandwich – Hickory-smoked brisket, queso fresco, cheddar, salsa verde, roasted red peppers, pickled jalapeños, lettuce, chipotle mayo and signature sauce on a jalapeño cheese bun.

While all were delicious, my personal favorite was the Tex-Mex Brisket Sandwich since it had a little bit of heat and combined my two favorite food groups, Tex-Mex and BBQ! ?

Being a Texan, I’ve had my share of BBQ brisket sandwiches, and while they are a state favorite, sometimes I shy away from ordering them or making them at home because they are so hard to eat and fall apart on most buns. But that’s one of the many things I love about Schlotzsky’s is their fresh made from scratch menu items including fresh and filling salads, Artisan flatbreads, gourmet mac and cheese, soups and of course their classic sandwiches served on fresh and hearty homemade breads and buns; which hold up perfectly to a saucy, loaded brisket sandwich!

Schlotzsky's Brisket Sandwiches
Even though the Schlotzsky’s SXSW Brisket Launch Party was open to the public (and was a full house with a line two blocks long!), since many of you could not make it to the event, Schlotzsky’s is generously providing a $25 gift card for me to giveaway to one of you to try their new brisket sandwiches!
